Job summary

Wood County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Food Service Crew Member to prepare nutritious meals for inmates and staff at the Wood County Jail, under supervision of a crew member. The role includes supervising inmate workers, adapting recipes, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with dietician plans.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, English reading/speaking ability, and no disqualifying prior offenses.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read and speak English; vision correctable to 20/20.

Responsibilities

• Supervision, instruction and discipline of inmate workers.
• Modify recipes to adapt to the food service operation.
• Prepare inmate food for inmates and staff according to meal tickets and counts.
• Maintain a sanitary food service area with inmate workers.
• Follow standard operating procedures of the food service area.
• Check in food supplier and government orders; sign invoices.
• Rotate stock and place food orders with inmate workers.
• Instruct inmates in proper sanitation of dishes and equipment.
• Prepare special meals as required per dietician plan.
• Inform food service coordinator of kitchen operation problems.
