Orphanides & Co is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Whitestone, NY team. You will manage client books, process transactions, and support month-end close with accuracy and timeliness.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 1-3 years of experience, proficiency in QuickBooks or Excel, and a solid grasp of GAAP. You will collaborate with partners on audits and tax engagements while maintaining organized workpapers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and maintain accurate client books, categorize transactions, journal entries, and general ledger accounts
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and compliance documentation
• Assist with sales tax return preparation and filings
• Support partnership, corporate, trust, and estate tax engagements
• Collaborate with senior accountants and partners on audits and special projects
