Description

The Desktop Support Technician’s role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals, providing level 1 and 2 support for the Support Center. Responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading desktop hardware, software, operating systems, and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. The role also involves maintaining desktop software configurations, inventory, and ensuring software license compliance. The technician will troubleshoot issues via various channels and assist end-users as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Set up and repair in-house systems, terminals, and printers
  • Maintain documented inventory of equipment
  • Assist with preventative maintenance of hardware
  • Coordinate with warranty services for repairs
  • Ensure proper configurations with other technicians or administrators
  • Maintain software inventory and license compliance
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support approved software
  • Investigate and resolve support requests
  • Provide courteous support to end-users
  • Document issues, resolutions, and processes
  • Follow up on incidents and update knowledge base
  • Stay informed on new technologies
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Provide training on specific configurations as needed
  • Support the Support Center team as backup

An Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of desktop hardware, peripherals, Windows, Linux, and thin clients
  • Familiarity with system imaging and business software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Research skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
