Job summary

UW–Madison DoIT Departmental Support is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to deliver expert IT assistance for Windows and Mac endpoints, network administration, and access permissions. You will document work in incident tracking, assist with small projects, and communicate effectively with customers and team members.

The role involves hands-on troubleshooting, onboarding of new staff, and collaboration with DoIT teams to resolve issues and improve services.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience providing information technology support to end users in a professional setting.
Demonstrated experience with hardware and software troubleshooting, network troubleshooting, working with Active Directory, and printer provisioning.
Experience managing the full lifecycle of operating systems from deployment to advanced troubleshooting for Windows and macOS across various hardware models.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site desktop support for customers at the customer location in a timely manner that meets defined service level targets.
Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and/or escalate basic and more complex data, network connectivity, client/server processes, and application issues.
Complete procurements, installations, configurations, repairs, and modifications of various technology hardware, software, and components under general supervision.
