Overview
Desktop Support Technician I
Location: Fully onsite in Madison, WI
Duration: 6+ Month Contract, Likely Extensions
Pay Rate Range: $15 - $18/HR
Responsibilities
- Serve as the initial point of contact for end-user support needs
- Provide basic installation, configuration, repair, and maintenance of hardware and software
- Troubleshoot and resolve (or escalate) issues related to data, connectivity, applications, and client/server processes
- Support operational maintenance of technology systems to ensure compatibility and functionality
- Assist staff with day-to-day tech challenges and new equipment setup
- Help maintain internal knowledge base documentation
- Provide one-on-one guidance to users on standard hardware, software, and business applications
- Learn and support media-related workflows used by staff
Qualifications
- Experience in a customer-facing role with strong active listening and empathetic support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain basic technical concepts to non-technical users
- Experience supporting modern computer hardware (desktops/laptops)
- Experience with Windows 10/11 and macOS
- Practical, logical troubleshooting skills for basic technical issues
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and documentation accurately
