Essential Requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment, and property.
  • Experience in Government contracting preferred.
  • Must possess standard technician hand tools (screwdrivers, cable strippers, pliers) to accomplish all installation‑related tasks relevant to desktop deployment.
  • Ability to drive to local client sites within a 50‑mile radius of the home station.
  • A strong desire to learn physical IT installation techniques and follow instructions closely.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Physical Hardware Installation

  • Connect clients, peripherals, and IT equipment assigned to the desk where work is performed.
  • Install docking stations, keyboards, video, mouse (KVM) switches, display adapters, and high‑speed connectivity cables.
  • Install and secure biometric peripherals, dual‑monitor arrays, brackets, VoIP network‑connected desktop phones, audio/visual (A/V) soundbars, webcams, and workstation peripherals.
  • Record serial numbers for installed products.
  • Assemble IT racks and assist with mounting servers and switches into designated spaces.
  • Securely install basic AV equipment, including mounting screens, speakers, and video teleconferencing (VTC) hardware.
  • Assist with logistics operations within the warehouse to support desktop deployment installation tasks as required.
  • Perform trash removal of donnage and packing materials to keep the work area free and clear of debris.
Cabling & Support
  • Pull, route, and neatly organize copper and fiber optic cables through trays, cable management pathways, and under floors.
  • Customize cable dressing or loom desk cables with material onsite and route cables through cable routing protective coverings.
  • Ensure desk cables are completely hidden and safe from tripping hazards.
  • Mount under‑desk cable trays or J‑channels beneath desks to route and hide power bricks and peripheral cords.
  • Terminate basic network cables and apply clear, accurate labels to all cables and ports as required.
  • Install rack power strips (PDUs), route power cables, and assist with basic grounding tasks.
Facility & Lab Support
  • Assist with physical lab organization, including moving floor tiles and installing grommets.
  • Keep a clean, safe workspace and help maintain an accurate physical inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Perform basic power‑on self‑tests (POST) to verify that installed equipment physically turns on.
Education and Experience

Associate's degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in Information Technology installation tasks, or an equivalent combination of education/experience. Basic knowledge of computer hardware, Ethernet connections, and common hand tools. Familiarity with routing, pulling, and labeling structured cables (Cat6).
