Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Run, route, dress, secure, terminate, test, label, and organize Cat5e/Cat6a cabling and related low-voltage infrastructure as directed.
  • Assist with installing and maintaining cable pathways, including conduit, raceway, cable tray and other approved low-voltage cable-management systems.
  • Install and organize patch panels, wall plates, jacks, patch cables, equipment cabinets, network closets, racks, shelves, cable managers, and related physical infrastructure.
  • Mount, relocate, adjust, or remove wireless access points, cameras, access-control devices, phones, small network devices, workstation equipment, printers, scanners, and related hardware.
  • Operate ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, or other approved elevated work platforms to reach equipment mounted on walls, ceilings, columns, mezzanines, or other hard-to-access locations when properly trained and authorized.
  • Physically set up workstations, including monitors, docking stations, phones, keyboards, mice, power cables, network cables, labels, and clean cable management.
  • Assist with office moves, shop moves, construction-related IT work, camera deployments, wireless deployments, access-control projects, network upgrades, and other physical technology projects.
  • Receive, unpack, stage, move, store, clean, prepare, organize, and track IT equipment, spare parts, cabling, tools, installation materials, and consumables.
  • Perform basic physical troubleshooting, including checking power, cables, connections, damaged hardware, loose mounts, incorrect labels, indicator lights, or disconnected devices.
  • Clean up after installations and projects, including removal of old cable, packaging, unused materials, retired equipment, and potential trip hazards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and location records for equipment, cables, spare devices, materials, asset tags, serial numbers, and installed hardware.
  • Document physical work clearly, including cable labels, port numbers, room locations, rack locations, device names, asset tags, serial numbers, photos, and observed issues.
  • Keep tools, cable bins, spare parts, storage areas, labels, installation materials, and project staging areas organized without constant supervision.
  • Communicate clearly with shop-floor staff, office staff, maintenance, facilities, vendors, contractors, management, and parent-company IT staff about physical work status, material needs, access limitations, safety concerns, and unresolved issues.
  • Ask clarifying questions before proceeding with unclear, unsafe, or out-of-scope work and coordinate around active production areas without unnecessary disruption.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Expectations
  • Complete cabling installations that are neat, properly secured, accurately labeled, tested, and documented according to company standards.
  • Maintain organized and professional cable pathways, racks, network closets, and equipment installations.
  • Safely perform installation and maintenance work while following all company safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines.
  • Consistently demonstrate attention to detail when labeling cables, ports, devices, asset tags, and infrastructure components.
  • Complete workstation setups accurately and efficiently with clean cable management and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure equipment, materials, and spare parts are properly tracked and stored.
  • Keep tools, storage areas, staging areas, and workspaces clean, organized, and ready for use.
  • Produce clear and accurate documentation of completed work, including locations, asset information, photos, and installation details.
  • Identify and report physical infrastructure issues, safety concerns, materials shortages, and project risks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate initiative by planning work effectively, managing assigned tasks, and requiring minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with employees, contractors, vendors, facilities personnel, and IT team members.
  • Coordinate work activities to minimize disruption to office, warehouse, manufacturing, and production operations.
  • Follow project instructions, timelines, and priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
  • Exercise sound judgment by seeking clarification when work requirements are unclear, unsafe, or outside assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and customer-service mindset while representing the IT department.
  • Consistently arrive prepared to work, meet attendance expectations, and complete assignments within established deadlines.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully take direction from manager.

Education Requirement
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in IT, Computer Systems, Electronics, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking concepts, and low-voltage cabling systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation, work instructions, diagrams, and labeling standards is a plus.
Experience
  • 1+ years of experience installing, supporting, or maintaining low-voltage cabling, IT infrastructure, telecommunications systems, or related technical systems is a plus.
  • Experience using hand and power tools for installation, mounting, and cable-management activities.
  • Background working in office, warehouse, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Ability to organize, label, document, and track technology assets, cabling, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to workplace safety practices when using ladders, lifts, and other elevated work platforms.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing - 7-8 hours per day.
  • Sitting - <1 hour per day.
  • Walking – <1 hour per day.
  • Lifting – Up to 50 lbs.
  • Carrying – Up to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling – Up to 50 lbs.
