Job summary

ComPsych seeks a Design Manager to lead and scale our design team, formalize a robust design system, and connect design with product and engineering. You will shape strategy and craft at a high level, serving as the first design leader to establish standards and processes in an AI-enabled product environment.

You will mentor a small team of designers, drive design quality, and build an internal design function that accelerates delivery across product surfaces.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2 years in design leadership or senior IC within a product-driven tech org.
• Deep expertise in Figma, including components, tokens, auto layout, and prototyping.
• Demonstrated experience building or maturing a design system from the ground up.
• Strong portfolio showing end-to-end product design and systems thinking.
• Excellent communication and facilitation with tech and non-tech stakeholders.
• Proven ability to mentor and grow designers across levels.
• Solid understanding of frontend development principles and how designs translate to engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of designers, with regular feedback and career development.
• Set the tone for design quality, craft, and cross-organizational collaboration.
• Conduct design critiques and foster a constructive feedback culture.
• Hire and onboard additional design talent as the team grows.
• Architect and implement a scalable design system with tokens, components, and docs.
• Establish design best practices and accessibility standards across products.
• Create and maintain design documentation for shared understanding.
• Be the internal Figma expert, managing libraries, naming, and governance.
• Upskill designers and cross-functional partners on advanced Figma features.
• Stay current with Figma updates and evaluate new features for adoption.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to integrate design in the lifecycle.
• Influence roadmap decisions with design thinking and user insights.
• Facilitate design reviews and align stakeholders on direction and tradeoffs.
• Evaluate and champion AI-powered design tools and workflows for velocity and quality.
• Partner with teams to pilot AI tooling and establish responsible use guidelines.
• Position design as an early adopter of AI-assisted workflows.
