Job summary

Rocket Money is seeking a Design System Engineer to help scale a shared UI library for web and React Native. You will contribute accessible, reusable components and improve design tokens, patterns, and documentation to empower product teams.

You will partner with designers and engineers to translate design intent into durable implementations, strengthen accessibility, and advance motion quality while maintaining a high standard of code quality and documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with React/React Native and TypeScript.
• Strong frontend fundamentals and maintainable UI.
• Hands-on accessibility experience or demonstrated interest in inclusive digital products.
• Interest in design systems: component APIs, design tokens, documentation, adoption, and consistency.
• Ability to collaborate with designers and engineers across teams.
• Curiosity about motion design and thoughtful interaction details.
• Clear written and code communication; ability to document usage patterns.
• Comfort working in ambiguity and driving incremental improvements.

Responsibilities

• Build accessible, reusable components for React Native and web.
• Help evolve design system foundations—tokens, patterns, docs, and tooling.
• Partner across design and engineering to translate design intent into durable implementations.
• Strengthen accessibility practices across the component library and usage patterns.
• Contribute to motion and interaction quality through thoughtful animation and micro-interactions.
• Improve documentation and examples to help engineers adopt patterns confidently.
• Support adoption at scale by migrating teams to shared components and gathering feedback.
• Keep the foundation healthy by writing tests and enforcing implementation quality.
