Job summary

Amazon's AHS Design Systems team in Boston is seeking a Design Systems Designer to craft scalable UI patterns, tokens, and AI-enabled experiences within the design system. You will work with front-end engineers to ensure aligned implementations and contribute to robust documentation.

You will define visual tokens, explore AI tooling to accelerate workflows, and collaborate with design and tech teams across Seattle, San Francisco, and Boston.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of design experience.
• Available online portfolio.
• Experience building or maintaining design systems or component libraries.
• Understanding of how design decisions translate to code.
• Strong eye for typography, color, spacing and visual hierarchy.
• Active use of AI tools to accelerate design systems work.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable UI components, patterns, and guidelines within the AHS design system.
• Define and evolve visual tokens (color, typography, spacing, elevation, motion) for consistency across products.
• Audit surfaces for system adherence and identify opportunities for new or improved patterns.
• Create detailed component specs including states, responsive behavior, accessibility requirements, and usage guidance.
• Define and document design patterns for AI-driven experiences within the system.
• Collaborate with front-end engineers to ensure coded components match design intent.
• Identify and implement AI-powered workflows that accelerate design systems operations.
• Contribute to design system documentation to aid adoption and contribution.
• Participate in design critiques and system reviews with a systematic mindset.
