Job summary

GBA, a full-service architectural and engineering firm, seeks a Design Mechanical Engineer to join our Life Sciences group in Colorado. You will design HVAC, plumbing, and process utilities for biopharma facilities, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to design calculations and documentation from concept to completion.

You’ll work under senior engineers, own scopes over time, and help ensure regulatory compliance, safety, and quality across projects. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience in building systems or facility design, biopharma preferred.
• EIT certification preferred; PE license preferred or in progress.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, utilities, process piping, equipment selection, and code compliance.
• Proficiency in Revit; MS Word/Excel; Bluebeam Revu; Carrier HAP.
• Strong design calculations, attention to detail, and problem solving.
• Excellent cross-disciplinary communication and teamwork.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments within schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, plumbing, and process utilities for biopharma facilities.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations for deliverables.
• Create basis-of-design narratives, equipment schedules, and utility summaries.
• Coordinate with architects, process engineers, and other disciplines.
• Perform design calculations and equipment selections under supervision.
• Write specifications and support regulatory compliance.
• Support construction administration and field reviews.
• Manage mechanical scope across multiple projects within schedule and budget.
• Mentor entry-level staff and contribute to quality processes.
