Job summary

GBA is seeking a Design Mechanical Engineer for its Life Sciences group in Lenexa, KS. You will design HVAC, plumbing, and process utility systems for biopharma facilities, coordinate with architects and process engineers, and produce high-quality deliverables from concept to completion.

You will develop drawings, specifications, and calculations, participate in basis-of-design narratives, and support construction administration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience in building systems or facility design.
EIT preferred; PE license preferred or in pursuit.
Knowledge of HVAC, utility systems, and code compliance.

Responsibilities

Design HVAC, plumbing, and process utility systems for biopharma facilities, including cleanrooms.
Develop mechanical drawings, specs, and calculations for deliverables.
Prepare design documentation such as basis-of-design narratives and equipment schedules.
Coordinate across disciplines to deliver integrated building solutions.
Perform design calculations and equipment selections under senior engineers.
Write specifications and support regulatory compliance.
Support construction administration including field reviews and RFI responses.
Manage mechanical scope on multiple projects within schedule and budget.
Mentor entry-level staff.
