Lead Design Excellence on Some of the Nation's Most Complex Projects!
AnderCorp is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead design execution across federal and commercial projects delivered through Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, and other integrated delivery methods.
This role sits on the builder's side of the table, serving as the critical link between owners, design partners, and construction teams. As Design Manager, you'll lead architects, engineers, specialty consultants, and design partners from pursuit and planning through final design, construction support, commissioning, and project closeout.

What You'll Do
Lead the Design-Build Process
- Manage the design process from pursuit through project completion
- Lead and coordinate architects, engineers, specialty consultants, and design partners
- Develop and maintain design execution plans, schedules, milestone tracking, and decision logs
- Support pursuit and preconstruction teams with technical proposals, design narratives, and budgeting efforts
- Negotiate and manage consultant scopes, fees, and deliverables
Drive Design Integration & Compliance
- Ensure designs align with contract requirements, owner expectations, and project objectives
- Verify compliance with federal criteria including UFC, UFGS, agency standards, and applicable codes
- Coordinate permitting, utility, AHJ, and third-party review requirements
- Maintain design basis documentation, compliance matrices, and requirement traceability
Oversee Quality, Constructability & Coordination
- Lead interdisciplinary design reviews and QA/QC efforts
- Facilitate constructability reviews with operations teams and trade partners
- Coordinate BIM, model-based collaboration, and clash detection activities
- Ensure design packages are complete, coordinated, and construction-ready
- Track design deliverables and review cycles
- Resolve owner and agency review comments
- Evaluate design changes and their impact on scope, cost, and schedule
- Support change management and entitlement documentation
Support Construction Operations
- Review RFIs, shop drawings, substitutions, and field changes
- Help transition projects smoothly from design to construction
- Provide technical leadership during construction and project turnover
- Support commissioning, warranty documentation, and closeout activities
Manage Stakeholders & Project Risk
- Serve as the primary contact for design-related matters
- Lead communication with owners, agencies, consultants, trade partners, and project teams
- Identify and mitigate design, schedule, and constructability risks
- Track design budgets and consultant performance
- Mentor project engineers and emerging design management professionals
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in architecture, engineering, design management, or project delivery
Experience leading multidisciplinary design coordination efforts
Design-Build or alternative delivery project experience
Strong understanding of:
- QA/QC procedures
- Design change management
- Design-to-construction integration
Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Revit, Navisworks, or similar design coordination tools
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license
- DBIA, PMP, CCM, LEED, or similar credentials
- Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, VA, GSA, or other federal agencies
- Knowledge of UFC, UFGS, and federal review platforms such as ProjNet/Dr Checks
- Experience handling CUI and cybersecurity compliance requirements
- Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, EPC, or integrated delivery experience
- Strong technical understanding across building, infrastructure, utility, and site systems
- Experience managing consultant performance, design budgets, and labor forecasts
