Job summary

Siemens Smart Infrastructure – Protection & Automation Panels division in Wendell, NC seeks a Design Engineering Manager to lead a growing team. You will convert customer documentation into manufacturing-ready packages, drive 3D digital twin adoption, and govern part libraries to improve engineering-to-manufacturing flow.

Relocation assistance is available. Lead the end-to-end engineering package development for UL508A subset panels, enabling right-first-time builds and manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related) or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in panel/equipment engineering or related manufacturing engineering environment with ownership of design deliverables.
• 2+ years of people leadership with ability to coach, develop, and scale engineering capability.
• Experience converting customer documentation into manufacturing-ready engineering packages (drawings, BOMs, wiring docs).
• Proficiency with CAD tools (2D/3D) and disciplined document control practices.

Responsibilities

• Leading end-to-end engineering package development for Protection & Automation panels (UL508A subset).
• Translating PDFs/schematics into complete manufacturing deliverables (BOMs, drawings, wiring docs).
• Establishing and scaling 3D digital twin standards for panel integration.
• Enabling wire-length automation outputs to reduce shop-floor ambiguity and increase throughput.
• Owning part library governance to improve design reuse and supply-chain resilience.
• Building engineering processes and training for best-in-class practices.
• Developing and coaching a high-performing team with strong technical credibility.
