Job summary

LVI Associates in Massachusetts seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to own UL508-compliant panel design from concept through fabrication-ready documentation. You’ll work closely with the in-house fabrication shop and project engineers to ensure seamless execution of control panel projects.

The role covers end-to-end design, component specification, cutsheets and drawings, and the generation of I/O lists from P&IDs. A hands-on engineer with PLC experience will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Design panels from scratch meeting UL508 requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawings and layouts.
• 5+ years creating instrument and I/O lists from P&IDs.
• UL508 MTR certification.
• Experience in Class I Div 1/2 environments.
• PLC design and/or programming experience.
• Able to commute daily to the Hopedale, MA office.

A well-established engineering and consulting business working across process controls, automation and project execution, with clients spanning life sciences and manufacturing. Projects range from smaller retrofits and expansions through to large capital builds, with control systems handled in-house from initial design through to commissioning and ongoing support.

The role

The Electrical Design Engineer will own the design of UL508-compliant industrial control panels from concept through to fabrication-ready documentation, including the specification of internal components and external instrumentation. This is a hands-on design position within a small, experienced engineering team, working closely with the in-house fabrication shop and project engineers.

Responsibilities

• Designing UL508-compliant industrial control panels end to end
• Specifying internal panel components and external instrumentation
• Preparing cutsheets and drawings for client submittals
• Creating instrument and I/O lists from P&IDs
• Supporting the procurement process
• Creating and maintaining internal design specifications and processes

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience designing panels from scratch, rather than modifying existing designs
• Working knowledge of UL508 requirements
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• 5+ years creating instrument and I/O lists from P&IDs
• Able to commute daily to the Hopedale, MA office
• UL508 MTR certification
• Experience in Class I Div 1/2 environments
