Job summary

Akona Process Solutions in Monroe, NC seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical design engineering team and site quality across Monroe, IA operations. This hands-on role owns design releases, BOM maintenance, and warranty resolution, setting priorities while empowering site leads to execute with minimal supervision.

You will drive design-for-manufacturability and ensure conformance across multiple sites, balancing engineering and quality with production needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years mechanical design in a custom/manufactured-at-order environment.
• 4+ years direct people leadership.
• Experience owning or working with a manufacturing quality function (inspection, nonconformance, corrective action) including warranty/customer claims.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), PDM, and ERP-based BOM and engineering change management.
• Knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the mechanical design engineering teams and site Quality Leads at Monroe and Oskaloosa.
• Set clear performance expectations, conduct reviews, and build bench strength through coaching and hiring.
• Align two sites to operate as one function with consistent practices and a regular communication rhythm.
