Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Design Engineering Manager in Illinois to lead a high‑performing design engineering team. The role focuses on developing design strategies, driving best practices, and ensuring on‑time project execution for complex industrial equipment projects.

The successful candidate will bring 8–10 years of engineering design experience, strong CAD proficiency with AutoCAD and Inventor, and a proven track record in manufacturing environments, plus 3–5 years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in engineering design.
• 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or team leadership role.
• Strong experience in manufacturing design environments.
• Experience improving drawings, bills of material, and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design engineering and PE teams to ensure strong performance and productivity.
• Develop and implement design strategies, processes, and engineering best practices.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
• Drive innovation around manufacturability and improve engineering drawings and bills of material.
• Resolve technical issues and provide leadership on complex design challenges.
• Prepare and present design proposals and project updates to management.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing and supply teams.
• Support continuous improvement across the design and engineering function.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Lead the design engineering and PE teams to ensure strong performance and productivity

You should have most of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in engineering design
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a managerial or team leadership role
• Strong experience in manufacturing design environments
• Experience improving drawings, bills of material, and design for manufacturability
• Proficiency with CAD software
• Strong background using AutoCAD and Inventor
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations
• Proven ability to lead teams, solve technical design issues, and manage multiple engineering priorities
