Job Details
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers while managing priorities, workloads, and project assignments.
- Oversee the design and engineering of mechanical and hydraulic equipment for customer applications, feasibility studies, proposals, and installations.
- Manage engineering projects from concept through design, manufacturing, installation, and ongoing product support.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, reliability, manufacturability, and field performance.
- Support the transition of new products and technologies from R&D into commercial production.
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Partner closely with Project Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and external suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide technical expertise related to product applications, installation, troubleshooting, and customer requirements.
- Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints, field issues, and product performance concerns.
- Evaluate new technologies, materials, and engineering methods to improve products and processes.
- Manage engineering resources and project schedules to ensure technical requirements and customer deadlines are met.
- Maintain a strong focus on engineering quality, safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Ideally 10+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Previous leadership or engineering management experience preferred.
- Experience working with complex mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
- Experience supporting industrial customers and engineered-to-order products is highly desirable.
Technical Background
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic system design.
- Experience with engineering design and CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, product design, and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of steelmaking processes and flow control systems is highly beneficial.
- Experience with automated controls or industrial automation is a plus.
Leadership & Skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor engineering talent.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
- Ability to travel up to approximately 15%.
