Job summary

Augmentation, Inc. seeks a Design Engineer in Upper Marlboro, MD to lead design through production release of aluminum door and window systems with emphasis on ballistic, forced-entry, and blast resistance. You will work with labs and partner firms to ensure performance and certification readiness.

The role requires hands-on CAD, hardware and laminates selection, and strong documentation discipline to support product lifecycle and testing programs.

Qualifications

• Experience designing products for manufacturing with exposure to aluminum door and window systems.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (AutoCAD Inventor or SolidWorks).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal stakeholders and test labs.
• Disciplined approach to document and revision control across product lifecycle.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, detail, and document aluminum door and window assemblies using 3D CAD, producing manufacturing-ready drawings and models.
• Develop products for physical security applications (ballistic, forced-entry, blast).
• Select and specify door hardware and laminated glass layups to meet requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external labs/partners to plan and interpret testing.
• Continuously evaluate products for improvements and next-generation redesigns.
• Develop and maintain internal design standards and ensure adherence across teams.
• Own document control for drawings, specs, and test records with traceability.
• Maintain records of development and testing documentation, including test reports and certifications.
• Support root-cause analysis for design/manufacturing issues.
