Job summary

Allegion seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and develop new door hardware for commercial and residential markets, translating customer needs into technical specifications. This hands-on role also focuses on improving existing designs for cost, robustness and reliability.

You will collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing, document and test designs, and support product launches while maintaining schedules.

Qualifications

• BSME or BSMET degree required.
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Proficiency with FMEA, Root Causes Analysis, DOE, GD&T, tolerance stacks up & DFA.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, develop and analyze new Mechanical/Electronic door hardware.
• Improve upon current designs by reducing cost and increasing robustness and reliability.
• Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with all levels of management, customers, vendors, visitors and employees.
• Willingness to spend up to 50% of time in a manufacturing plant environment.
• Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes.
• Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to apply basic problem solving and engineering analysis to complex product and process related issues.
• Communicate project status through reports, presentations and design reviews.
• Work with suppliers to source and evaluate purchased components.
• Work with manufacturing to produce or assemble manufactured components and assemblies.
• Periodic customer contact. May participate in customer presentations
