Job summary

Roblox, based in San Mateo, CA, seeks a Design Engineer to advance design tooling and AI-driven pipelines. You’ll build scalable backend services and APIs that connect design tools to AI models and production environments, while enabling fluid designer-engineer workflows.

You will shape orchestration layers for UI component generation, design token management, and automation, contributing to secure, scalable design systems across Roblox Studio and internal tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering with focus on backend or full-stack development.
• Experience building scalable internal services beyond frontend interfaces.
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration, agentic workflows, and AI protocols (e.g., MCP).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, feature-flag management, GitHub Enterprise, and automated deployments.
• Strong understanding of Figma plugin architecture and programmatic data parsing for scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services and APIs connecting design tools to AI models.
• Develop orchestration layers for natural language generation of UI components and prototypes.
• Create CI/CD pipelines and zero-config environments for designers.
• Design and maintain data architecture linking design system to AI data sources across platforms.
• Build internal tools and plugins for Figma, Cursor, and web apps focusing on linting, code generation, and compliance.
• Bridge engineering, AI research, and product design to ensure secure, performant design acceleration tools.
• Report to the Manager of Design Acceleration.
