Job summary

Dimensional Innovations is seeking Design Engineer Interns to join our Kansas City area engineering team for real client projects. You will work on turning concepts into buildable solutions using SolidWorks, Rhino and other CAD tools, while learning through hands-on fabrication processes.

You’ll read production drawings, create 3D models, and collaborate with Design, Production, Technology and Project Management to move designs from screen to shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling/CAD software preferred.
• Familiarity with Rhino and/or Grasshopper is a plus.
• Interest in materials, fabrication, manufacturing and how things are built.
• Previous engineering, production, fabrication or related internship experience is a plus, but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to explore different solutions.
• Collaborative mindset and cross-disciplinary teamwork.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-moving creative environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to real client projects alongside DI's Engineering team.
• Assist with reading, interpreting and preparing production and submittal drawings.
• Create and modify 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Help translate creative concepts into practical, buildable solutions.
• Explore materials, fabrication methods and construction techniques used to bring custom projects to life.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, Technology, Project Management and other teams throughout the project process.
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews and problem-solving conversations.
• See engineered solutions move from your screen into DI's fabrication shop—and into the finished client experience.
