Job summary

Moog Inc. in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Design Engineer to join the Space and Defense – Power & Data division on a onsite schedule.

You will review customer specifications, develop design approaches, and support proposals while optimizing designs with Speed and ANSYS FEA tools. The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to manage development, prototype, and production phases in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3 years of design experience; electro-mechanical devices preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Capability to manage tasks through development, prototype, and production with attention to detail.
• Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and develop design approaches to meet requirements.
• Support the business development group with technical proposals.
• Optimize designs using Speed or ANSYS FEA tools; collaborate with designers to create solid models and detailed prints.
• Conduct internal and external design reviews.
• Support the model shop during prototype building and qualification testing.
• Prepare drawing packages for final production release.
• Address technical questions from customers.
• Foster innovation in both design and manufacturing techniques.
