Job summary

Moog Inc in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Space and Defense - Power & Data division. This onsite role reports to the Site Engineering Manager and focuses on translating customer specs into robust electro-mechanical designs.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and at least 3 years of design experience, preferably with electro-mechanical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3 years of design experience, preferably with electro-mechanical devices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Capability to manage tasks through development, prototype, and production with attention to detail.
• Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and develop design approaches to meet requirements.
• Support the business development group with technical proposals.
• Optimize designs using Speed or ANSYS FEA tools; collaborate with designers to create solid models and detailed prints.
• Conduct internal and external design reviews.
• Support the model shop during prototype building and qualification testing.
• Prepare drawing packages for final production release.
• Address technical questions from customers.
• Foster innovation in design and manufacturing techniques.
