Job summary

Moog Space and Defense - Power & Data division is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our product development team in Blacksburg, VA. The role reports to the Offshore Value Stream Manager and is onsite in Blacksburg, VA, with responsibilities spanning design optimization, customer interaction, and production release.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, 3 years of design experience (electro-mechanical devices preferred), strong communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3 years of design experience; electro-mechanical devices preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Capability to manage various tasks through development, prototype, and production with attention to detail.
• Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and develop design approaches to meet requirements.
• Support the business development group with technical proposals.
• Optimize designs using Speed or ANSYS FEA tools; collaborate with designers on solid models and prints.
• Conduct internal and external design reviews.
• Support the model shop during prototype building and qualification testing.
• Prepare drawing packages for final production release.
• Address technical questions from customers.
• Foster innovation in design and manufacturing techniques.
