Job summary

Footbridge Federal seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer with an active Secret clearance to join our defense engineering team in Massachusetts. You will work on machined components and complex assemblies, including electronic packaging and opto-mechanics.

Responsibilities include producing detailed 3D CAD models and finish drawings in SolidWorks, defining material specs and tolerances, preparing release documents, and supporting fabrication and assembly with technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance (Interim Secret acceptable to start).
• 5+ years mechanical product design experience, focus on machined components.
• At least 4 years using SolidWorks for 3D CAD design.
• Experience designing complex assemblies (electronic packaging, opto-mechanics, mechanisms, or structural components).
• Knowledge of manufacturability and conventional machining techniques.
• Deep understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Excellent communication skills to present technical findings.

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience utilizing SolidWorks for 3D CAD design.
• Proven experience designing complex assemblies in areas such as electronic packaging, opto-mechanics, mechanisms, or structural components.
• Strong working knowledge of conventional machining fabrication techniques and design for manufacturability.
• Deep understanding of the ASME Y14 family of standards, specifically ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or 9+ years of equivalent experience).
• Familiarity with design standards for aerospace, defense, or ground support systems.
• Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes.
• Willingness to upgrade to a Top Secret clearance in the future.
