Job summary

Actalent is seeking a permanent Design Engineer in Fresno, CA to design, implement and optimize manufacturing processes, developing custom mechanical equipment from concept through production. You will create 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks, and apply Lean and Six Sigma to improve throughput and quality.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of SolidWorks or similar CAD for mechanical design.
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in mechanical/product/manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems and components.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Six Sigma exposure or familiarity with related tools.
  • Ability to interface with customers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment based on project requirements.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Create and modify 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Design and integrate mechanical and fluid power systems into larger equipment assemblies.
  • Collaborate with operations, production, and stakeholders to define requirements and develop engineering solutions.
  • Support projects from concept through manufacturing, including design reviews and production readiness activities.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with machining, fabrication, and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Manage engineering deliverables and project timelines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards and best practices.

Essential Skills:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software for mechanical design.

  • Strong background in mechanical engineering, product design, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems, assemblies, and components.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and engineering drawing creation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of machining, fabrication, and design-for-manufacturing concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting projects from concept through production.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Experience supporting custom-engineered products or industrial equipment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing operations and production environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in seeing products move from design through fabrication and production.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with direct impact on finished products.
Job Type & Location:
This is a Permanent position based out of Fresno, CA.
Pay And Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $66500.00 - $95500.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
