Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in New York, NY is offering an internship/co-op across the full project lifecycle. You’ll gain hands-on exposure from initial concept through final walkthrough, working with a team of designers, engineers, and project managers to deliver value on real construction projects.

You’ll participate in estimating, scheduling, design meetings, reporting, and site visits, while developing the skills needed for a successful career in design/build.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program.
• Driver’s License.
• Excellent verbal communication, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
• Previous Co-op or Intern experience in construction preferred, but not required.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Concept to Completion: learn from initial concept to final delivery of projects.
• Estimating and Takeoffs: describe proposals and assign accurate dollar values.
• Scheduling: assist in creating timelines for subcontractors/trades activities.
• Design Meetings: attend meetings with owner and design team including engineers and architects.
• Reporting: prepare weekly reports, document progress, track action items.
• Shadowing: join project calls and site meetings to observe leadership by DBMs.
• Buyout: assist with bid instructions, schedules, and drawings to subcontractors; evaluate proposals.
• Permitting: complete and submit permit applications with required documents and fees.
• Shop Drawing & Submittal Review: route submittals and communicate approvals.
• Billing: learn about subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications.
• Job Site Visits: observe progress on-site with DBMs.
• Training & Learning: participate in offsite trainings and biweekly sessions.
• Business Development: gain exposure to client relationships and industry strategies.
