Job summary

ARCO Design/Build is offering a Construction Design/Build Project Manager (DBM) Intern/Co-op position. You will gain hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of design/build projects, from concept through permitting and completion, while working with experienced professionals.

You’ll develop skills in estimating, scheduling, design coordination, reporting, site visits, and professional development in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering program (undergrad or grad).
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
• Co-op or Intern experience in construction is preferred but not required.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Concept to Completion approach: understand ARCO's project lifecycle from idea to delivery.
• Estimating and takeoffs: describe proposals and assign accurate dollar values.
• Scheduling: assist in creating timelines for subcontractors and trades.
• Attend design meetings with the owner and design team (engineers/architects).
• Prepare weekly progress reports and track action items.
• Shadow project calls and site meetings with Design/Build Managers.
• Assist with buyout: issue bid instructions, evaluate proposals, and support subcontract awards.
• Complete permit applications with required documents and fees.
• Review shop drawings and communicate approvals to subcontractors.
• Learn about subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications.
• Visit job sites with DBMs to monitor progress.
• Participate in trainings and learning sessions.
• Explore business development activities and client relationship building.
