Job summary

FashionUnited seeks a capable Design Assistant to support the Designer and Design Director in daily operations of the design department. The role involves creating swatch books, maintaining sample records and file inventories, and handling shipping and order tracking.

You will collaborate on sketches and the product line, prepare documents, and liaise with vendors. The position requires organization, strong communication, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• College degree in Arts/Fashion preferred.
• Ability to sketch and CAD.
• 2-4 years experience in the field.
• Creative background a plus.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Create swatch books for fabrics and trims used in design.
• Maintain an up-to-date picture record of all samples and file names and style numbers.
• Check in all orders received and handle shipping.
• Track all sample orders and ad samples.
• Collaborate in sketching and detailing and in designing the product line.
• Prepare correspondences, spreadsheets, and forms.
• Communicate with vendors and assist in the confirmation process.
• Assist in brand direction and trend forecasting.
• Domestic and international travel.
• Other duties as required.
