Job summary

Steve Madden is seeking a Design Assistant to support the Designer and Design Director in the day-to-day operations of the design department. This role involves organizing sample rooms, tracking orders, and helping prepare line sheets and correspondences for the team.

Responsibilities include creating swatch books, maintaining up-to-date sample records, communicating with vendors, assisting in trend forecasting, and travel as needed.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strong time management skills.
• Ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Create swatch books for fabrics and trims used in design.
• Maintain an up-to-date picture record of all samples and a file of names and style numbers.
• Check in orders received and handle shipping.
• Keep sample rooms organized and track all sample orders and add samples.
• Collaborate in sketching and detailing and in designing the product line.
• Create line sheets and prepare correspondences, spreadsheets, and forms.
• Communicate with vendors and assist in brand direction and trend forecasting.
