Job summary

Laceless Design is seeking a design department assistant to support the Designer and Design Director in day-to-day operations in New York. The role involves organizing swatch books, managing sample files, and coordinating with vendors for orders and shipping.

You will help sketch and detailing, contribute to the product line design, and prepare line sheets. Strong communication and multi-tasking in a fast-paced studio are essential, with travel as required.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Arts/Fashion preferred.
  • Ability to sketch and CAD.
  • 2-4 years experience in the field.
  • Creative background a plus.
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

  • Create swatch books for fabrics and trims used in design.
  • Maintain up-to-date picture records of samples and file names/style numbers.
  • Check in orders and handle shipping.
  • Keep sample rooms organized.
  • Track sample orders and ad samples.
  • Collaborate in sketching and detailing.
  • Collaborate in designing the product line.
  • Create line sheets.
  • Prepare correspondences, spreadsheets, and forms.
  • Communicate with vendors.
  • Assist in confirmation process.
  • Assist in brand direction and trend forecasting.
  • Domestic and international travel.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

General Summary: This position assists the Designer and Design Director in the day-to-day operations of the design department.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Create swatch books for all fabrics, trim, used in design
  • Maintain an up-to-date picture record of all samples and also an up-to-date file of all names and style numbers
  • Check in all orders received and handle all shipping
  • Keep all sample rooms organized
  • Track all sample orders, and ad samples
  • Collaborate in sketching and detailing
  • Collaborate in designing the product line
  • Create line sheets
  • Preparation of correspondences, spreadsheets, and forms
  • Communicate with vendors
  • Assists in the confirmation process
  • Assists in brand direction and trend forecasting
  • Domestic and International travel
  • Special projects as needed
  • Other duties as required
