Pro Staff in Dearborn, MI is hiring a Design and Release Product Engineer to support the design, development, validation, and launch of automotive mechanical components and vehicle closure systems.

This fully onsite role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of experience, with CATIA CAD experience, GD&T knowledge, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of engineering experience in product design, development, or launch.
• Experience with automotive or other mechanical systems.
• Proficient in CATIA or similar 3D CAD.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design principles.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, validation, and release of mechanical components.
• Create and review CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and engineering changes.
• Work with suppliers and cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Support product testing, validation, PPAP, and production launches.
• Investigate product issues and support root cause and corrective actions.
• Ensure designs meet quality, cost, durability, and performance requirements.

Location: Dearborn, MI – Fully Onsite
Pay Rate: $42.31/hour

We are seeking a Design and Release Product Engineer to support the design, development, validation, and launch of automotive mechanical components and vehicle closure systems, including handles, locks, latches, hinges, and related mechanisms.

Job Duties

• Support the design, development, validation, and release of mechanical components
• Create and review CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and engineering changes
• Work with suppliers and cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
• Support product testing, validation, PPAP, and production launches
• Investigate product issues and support root cause and corrective actions
• Ensure designs meet quality, cost, durability, and performance requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of engineering experience in product design, development, or launch
• Experience with automotive or other mechanical systems/mechanisms
• CATIA or similar 3D CAD experience
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design principles
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Relevant experience may include vehicle closures/latching systems, seating mechanisms, heavy or agricultural equipment, construction equipment, aerospace mechanisms, or similar mechanical products.

Experience with Teamcenter, DFMEA/PFMEA, PPAP, root cause analysis, and Design & Release Engineering is a plus.
