Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Nurse Clinician to provide comprehensive nursing care in a multidisciplinary setting. The role includes patient assessments via phone or in person, implementing nursing interventions, and coordinating education for the unit its serves.

The Nurse Clinician will maintain documentation, ensure confidentiality, and collaborate with physicians and other departments to deliver high-quality patient care in a compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
• CPR certification required.
• Experience within past five years (or new graduate within past two years).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment per OSHA; report deficiencies.
• Provide pre-attending care with comprehensive assessments and documentation.
• Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, meds, vital signs, and lab prep.
• Interpret abnormalities in tests and take appropriate remedial action.
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments for patient care.
• Triage and prioritize telephone calls using clinical assessment skills.
• Manage urgent/emergent medical situations per protocols.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians; delegate tasks per Illinois law.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education; participate in community education.
