Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Medical Assistant.
• CPR.

Responsibilities

• Serve as patient advocate during examination and treatment.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Record patient's medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
• Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocols.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, wound care instructions and physician’s instructions to patients.
• Help physician examine and treat patients, handing instruments and materials or performing tasks such as removing sutures.
• Under physician direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Prepare and clean exam rooms and medical equipment between patients and at day end.
• Assist physician with surgical procedures while maintaining sterile field.
• Dispose of infectious waste and bio hazard materials.
• Schedule appointments for patients.
• Inventory and assess need for instruments, supplies and equipment while keeping room stocked.
• Document all procedures in medical records timely.
• Inventory and order medical supplies monthly and ensure equipment works.
• Adhere to policies and procedures supporting high quality patient care.
• Perform other duties as needed.
