Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Dermatology clinic in Grandville. This role supports physicians with examinations, collects patient histories, and administers medications under supervision in an ambulatory setting.

The ideal candidate holds MA certification and BLS, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse patient populations. The position is 40 hours per week, days shift, on-site at Grandville.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Certification as Medical Assistant required.
• BLS certification required by 3/1/2025.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to communicate with patients and staff with diplomacy and tact.
• Ability to operate medical equipment safely and correctly.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and document vitals and histories.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and document information in medical records.
• Assist physicians during examinations or procedures.
• Administer medications and immunizations as directed by clinicians.
• Maintain exam rooms and sterilize/sanitize equipment.
• Perform clerical duties: forms, calls, records, referrals.
• Handle patient communications and coordinate messages to providers.
• Conduct EKGs and CLIA-waived tests as directed.
