Job summary

Peraza Dermatology Group seeks a Histology Technician to prepare dermatologic biopsy specimens for histology, manage accessioning, labeling, and gross descriptions, and produce high-quality slides for microscopic exam.

The role requires a B.S. in a relevant field and HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification, with preferred dermatopathology/Mohs experience and strong attention to safety, confidentiality, and organization.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in biology or related field.
• HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification required.
• Experience in histology/histotechnology; dermatopathology and Mohs experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare biopsy tissue specimens for histological processing.
• Accurately reconcile biopsy specimens and ensure accessioning.
• Labeling accuracy across logs, containers, blocks, slides, and requisitions.
• Perform gross examination and document gross descriptions.
• Section paraffin-embedded tissue and prepare slides for microscopy.
• Perform H&E staining and routine tissue processing.
• Embed tissue for quality orientation and sectioning.
• Perform special stains and IHC as needed.
• Maintain documentation and quality control throughout workflow.
• Collaborate with pathologists and clinical staff to ensure timely specimen preparation.
