National Society for Histotechnology is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to support Mohs surgery and/or dermatopathology services. You will prepare tissues, perform embedding, sectioning and staining with a focus on accuracy, quality and safety.
The ideal candidate will have Mohs histology experience preferred, 1–3 years in histology, and HT/HTL certification. A fast-paced clinical setting requires precision, reliability and teamwork with surgeons and pathology staff.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-orientedHistology Technicianto support our Mohs surgery and/or dermatopathology services. This role is critical to delivering accurate diagnoses and excellent patient care by ensuring high-quality tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
The ideal candidate is dependable, precise, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. Experience in Mohs histology, dermatopathology, or both is preferred.
Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination, including fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining
Perform frozen sections forMohs micrographic surgeryand/or routine histology for dermatopathology
Ensure high-quality slide preparation with consistent accuracy and attention to detail
Label, track, and document specimens accurately to ensure patient safety and compliance
Maintain proper specimen handling and chain-of-custody procedures
Work closely with the Mohs surgeon and/or dermatopathologist during procedures and case review
Prioritize specimens efficiently to support real-time surgical decision‑making (Mohs)
Assist with troubleshooting tissue quality or processing issues as they arise
Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization
Follow all OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
Perform routine equipment maintenance and quality control checks
Assist with lab inventory management and supply ordering
Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, and leadership
Maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a high‑stakes surgical environment
Participate in ongoing training and competency assessments
Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL)preferred
Mohs histology experience strongly preferred; dermatopathology experience a plus
Minimum of1-3 years of histology experience(Mohs or dermpath) preferred
Strong knowledge of histologic techniques, stains, and lab safety standards
Exceptional attention to detail and manual dexterity
Ability to work efficiently under time‑sensitive conditions
Accurate, high-quality slides delivered consistently and on time
Smooth coordination with Mohs surgery and pathology workflows
Minimal specimen errors and strong compliance with lab standards
