Job summary

QualDerm Partners is seeking a part-time laboratory professional to support histology workflows in a busy dermatology pathology setting. The role involves specimen preparation, slide & block handling, and quality assurance under the pathologist's guidance.

This position requires strong attention to detail, reliable documentation, and the ability to stand for long periods. Prior lab experience and proficiency with MS Office are advantageous.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years’ lab experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lab design and operation beneficial.
• 2+ years lab experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Detail oriented and accurate documenter.
• Able to exercise independent judgment.
• Must tolerate standing 8 hours/day.
• Proficient with keyboard (≈40 WPM) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue specimens for routine and special procedures.
• Assist with receipt and accessioning of paraffin cases.
• Print cassettes, slides and slide labels; file slides and cases.
• Perform quality assurance checks and verify slide/block match.
• Log cases; ensure slides match patient requisitions.
• Handle histology and IHC stains and staining cycles.
• Operate lab equipment for tissue processing and embedding.
• Maintain QC/QA records and CLIA documentation.
• Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
