Job summary

The role collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants under the supervision of the practice manager, performing essential clerical and clinical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• One year of clinical experience or graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
• Two years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferred.
• Customer service experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient’s medical record and determining needed services.
• Prepares patients for examination and escorts to the exam room.
• Documents patient information in the Electronic Medical Record and enters provider orders as directed.
• Updates medication lists, allergies, personal/family/social history, and smoking status; records visit reason.
• Coordinates with providers and care teams regarding tests, referrals and follow-up.
• Maintains exam rooms, supplies, and equipment; handles waste disposal and instrument sterilization.
