Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network in the Lehigh Valley seeks a Clinical Assistant in Dermatology to support the patient care team during visits, assist with check-in, rooming, scribing and follow-up coordination.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, updating records, coordinating with providers, and ensuring smooth flow of appointments while upholding the network's standards of compassionate care.

Qualifications

• One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required.
• Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting is preferred.
• Customer service experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating the patient’s medical record as needed.
• Confers with the provider regarding any incomplete orders prior to the visit.
• Preps patients for examination and escorts them to the exam room.
• Updates medication list, allergies, and personal/social history in the record.
• Documents patient information in the EMR following guidelines and enters orders as directed.
• Communicates with provider if chart is not complete or needs review and sign-off.
• Maintains exam rooms, supplies, and equipment; assists with cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
• Disposes of waste per practice protocol and supports scheduling and referral processes.
• Interacts with care coordinators regarding discharge, tests, and follow-up care as needed.
