Job summary

Office of the Sheriff is recruiting men and women for a challenging career in law enforcement. Recruits attend a POST-approved academy, then graduate and are sworn in as Peace Officers and promoted to Deputy Sheriff.

We offer diverse assignments across patrol, investigations, custody and more within a professional agency. Eligibility remains active on the list for up to twelve months in this continuous recruitment process.

Qualifications

License: Valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License. Out of State license accepted during application.
Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or higher degree from accredited college/university.
Citizenship: US citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
Age: Must be 21+ at appointment.
Physical: Satisfy health standards per County Medical Consultant.
Vision: 20/20 uncorrected, 20/30 corrected per eye.
Hearing: No hearing loss >25 dB at 500/1000/2000 Hz.
Background: Extensive background investigation including polygraph, medical, and psychological exams.

Responsibilities

Attend POST-approved police academy (26 weeks) with academics and fitness training.
Graduate and be sworn in as a Peace Officer and promoted to Deputy Sheriff.
Join any of multiple specialized assignments and patrol operations.
Maintain eligibility on the recruitment list for up to 12 months.
