Job summary

The Office of the Sheriff in California is seeking men and women for an exciting career in law enforcement in a continuous recruitment process. Applicants will attend a POST approved police academy (26 weeks of instruction and fitness training) and, upon successful completion, graduate and be sworn in as Peace Officers and promoted to Deputy Sheriff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or US high school equivalency from an accredited US school.
• Policy requires US citizenship or a permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
• Must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
• Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License; out-of-state license accepted during the process.
• Vision: 20/20 uncorrected, corrected to 20/30; Hearing: no loss greater than 25 dB in the 500/1000/2000 Hz ranges.
• Background investigation including a polygraph, medical examination, and psychological testing.
