The Office of the Sheriff is seeking men and women for a challenging career in law enforcement through the Deputy Sheriff Recruit program. No prior law enforcement experience is required; recruits will attend a POST-approved academy, 26 weeks of academic and fitness training, and will be sworn in as Peace Officers upon graduation and promoted to Deputy Sheriff.

Qualifications

• License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License; out-of-state licenses accepted during the application process.
• Education: High school diploma, GED, or higher from an accredited US institution.
• Citizenship: US citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
• Age: Must be 21 years of age at appointment.
• Health/Physical: Ability to meet health standards prescribed by County Medical Consultant.
• Vision: 20/20 uncorrected, 20/30 corrected per eye; Hearing: no more than 25 dB loss in specified frequencies.
• Background: Comprehensive background investigation including polygraph, medical, and psychological testing.
