Job summary

The Navajo County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Entry/Trainee Deputy to begin a law enforcement career in Holbrook, AZ. This position works under close supervision while you train to learn essential duties such as enforcing laws, investigating, issuing citations, and maintaining public order.

Successful applicants will attend AZPOST-required academy training and must pass medical and background assessments. Candidates should be at least 21, a US citizen, and hold a valid Arizona driver license.

Qualifications

• Must be able to successfully complete written, polygraph, physical or stress test, and background examinations.
• Within one year of hire, must complete the peace officer's basic course and be certified by the Arizona POST.
• Must pass a thorough background investigation and other pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attend AZPOST academy to learn principles, methods and techniques of deputy sheriff.
• Learn to drive a motor vehicle safely and demonstrate command presence.
• Learn to write clear, comprehensive reports with correct grammar and spelling.
• Perform duties related to patrol, community relations, fingerprinting, and investigations.
• Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and county information.
