Coconino County's Sheriff's Office (Patrol) is seeking a Deputy Recruit for training toward Deputy Sheriff. The role focuses on learning law enforcement principles through AZPOST academy, supervised by staff, with the path to promotion upon successful completion and departmental approval.

The position emphasizes rigorous training, physical conditioning, and the development of accurate reporting and law application skills, under standard workplace safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must obtain AZPOST certification within one year of employment.
• Must pass AZPOST prescribed physical agility test.
• Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it.
• Must submit to background checks, drug screen, and polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

• Attends AZPOST academy to learn deputy principles and procedures.
• Participates in indoor and outdoor training sessions and physical training.
• Learns to safely operate a vehicle in normal and emergency conditions.
• Learns to demonstrate command presence in conflict situations.
• Learns to write clear, accurate reports with proper grammar and spelling.
• Learns to understand and apply criminal and civil laws.
• Learns use of firearms and first aid methods.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
