Qualifications

• Must obtain AZPOST certification within one year of employment.
• Must pass AZPOST physical agility test.
• Must obtain Arizona driver’s license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
• Must submit to background check and pass drug screen, polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

• Attends AZPOST academy to learn deputy sheriff principles, methods and techniques.
• Attends indoor and outdoor classes and training sessions; participates in rigorous physical training.
• Learns to drive a motor vehicle safely in normal and emergency conditions.
• Learns to demonstrate command presence in conflict situations.
• Learns to write clear, comprehensive reports with correct grammar and spelling.
• Learns to understand, interpret and apply criminal and civil laws.
• Learns use of firearms and first aid methods.
• Performs duties as assigned.
