Fermilab is seeking a Deputy Installation Manager for the LBNF/DUNE project, focused on the Far Detector and Cryogenics subproject. The role is a three-year term with potential extension, requiring up to 30% travel and activities at the Far Site in Lead, South Dakota, and collaboration with international partners.

The position emphasizes project planning, cost/schedule management, and coordination with universities and collaborators to advance one of the world’s largest neutrino experiments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Engineering Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Business Administration plus 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of cost and schedule management, change control processes, procurement planning, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute project management functions for the Far Detector, including setting project objectives, monitoring project activities, and leading project staff.
• Support procurement readiness, production readiness, and operational readiness review processes, ensuring compliance with procedures and guidelines.
• Plan and manage Far Detector procurements, tracking packages through subcontract award.
• Draft agreements with universities and international partners performing project work and provide oversight of detector production at these sites.
• Develop and manage cost and schedule estimates, monitor obligations and budgets, and analyze schedules to align with project goals.
• Facilitate change control planning and prepare documentation for review by the LBNF/DUNE Change Control Board.
• Contribute to Design Reports, Hazard Analyses, QA Plans, and Detector Installation Plans.
