Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Deputy Director of Section 8 Operations within the Division of Tenant & Owner Resources at HPD. This leadership role oversees daily operations, staff supervision, and policy implementation for rental subsidy programs including HCV and PBV across five boroughs.

The Deputy Director ensures compliance with HUD requirements, manages performance, and drives continuous improvement while coordinating with divisions and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or related duties.
• Or high school graduation with six years of relevant experience.
• Education/experience equivalent accepted with one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of rental subsidies and Section 8 regulations, policies, and stakeholders.
• Represent the unit in meetings and roll out policies.
• Oversee staff development, training, and performance management.
• Coordinate with divisions on policy changes and technology rollouts.
• Manage inquiries and communications with stakeholders.
