Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development is seeking a Community Coordinator to oversee the HCV Tenancy Unit, ensuring compliance with federal and local guidelines while driving program efficiency and staff development.

You will lead day-to-day operations, coordinate with landlords, tenants, and city agencies, and manage complex inquiries. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of community work experience or related duties.
• HS diploma with 6 years of related experience.
• Equivalency to above with at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational activities of the HCV Tenancy Unit ensuring compliance with guidelines.
• Develop strategies to optimize case management and staff development.
• Collaborate with Director; exercise independent judgment on complex tasks.
• Maintain relationships with internal teams, participants, landlords, and external stakeholders.
• Review and refine procedures to align with HUD regulations and policies.
• Respond to inquiries from landlords, tenants, and public.
• Resolve participant issues with clear communication across channels.
• Develop expertise in Federal Section 8 and HPD programs.
• Supervise staff and support professional growth.
• Work with senior management to implement best practices.
• Represent the division in meetings as the HCV Tenancy Unit contact.
• Manage special projects, track inquiries, and present findings to leadership.
